A book is an instrument for recording data in the form of text or pictures, usually written in several pages protected and bounded together with a book cover. The technical term for this actual physical arrangement is folio. The book may be divided into several divisions: contents, acknowledgements, index, acknowledgments, table of contents and page numbers. The pages are referred to as leaves of the book, and they are numbered with the usual numbering system.
As for the content, the book consists of the introductory chapters and the various sections. Some books have a first chapter and a foreword. The foreword is usually written by the author, while the introduction is usually written by another expert on the same topic. The second part of the book consists of the preface. The preface may be written by another expert as well.
The third division of the book consists of the main text on which the preface and the foreword are based. Usually the pages of the foreword and the introduction are numbered with the usual numbers, while the page numbers refer to individual texts. Pages that do not contain any text are numbered with hyphens. The section on the side of the book usually has a table of contents. This table usually lists the various contents of the text in order, from the foreword to the end of the text.
The contents of the foreword and the preface are the first major part of the text. They cover the historical development of the book, including the authors, subjects, themes and points of discussion discussed in the text. The foreword may also include acknowledgments. After these parts, the next part of the text is the main text. This part includes the description of the contents of the book, along with the conclusion. Sometimes, a book has a joint preface and the foreword, which occur when there is a joint publishing of the two books.
After this, there are eight numbered pages, the left side of which is called the beginning or the foreword, and the right side, which is called the end or the prologue. Pages three, four, five, six and seven of the foreword, the introduction, preface and the end of the book are calling the corals. The eighth page of the foreword is called the table of contents and has the same page numbers as the other pages of the text. The remaining pages are commonly called the chapters. All the pages are listed in a single book, called the table of contents.
A preface may be written by the author (or the editor) and written by an editor (or a book reviewer). The foreword may be written by the author or the editor, and may be published separately from the text. The front matter generally identifies the publisher, the publication date, the pages that the book contains, and is printed in case of a hard copy book. The copyright page is the page that grants permission for the use of the book, while the back cover is the page that provides further information about the book and its author.
